How to be Dad’s favourite this Father’s Day
Want to be Dad’s favourite this Father’s Day, but totally stuck for a great idea? We’ve come up with the goods so you can leave your siblings in the dust. Check out some great Coorong inspiration to treat Dad like a King, and enter our competition to win him a pretty cool Father’s Day haul.
- The Welly Pub – a wood fire in the dining room makes lunch pretty special, while overlooking the river, and there’s live music by Mick Kidd.
- The Wellington Courthouse is making it all about slow cooked ribs – guaranteed to please Dad.
- Coorong Brewing Co. – laze by the lake while Dad tests out a few of the beers (we can highly recommend the pizzas too).
Have you checked out The Bend SA Motorsport Park yet? It’s got to be the mecca for Father’s Day experiences. Go carts (challenge Dad to a race, but perhaps let him win), a 4WD track, a seriously impressive collection of cars on display, a bar right next to pit lane, and lunch overlooking the track.
You’ll have a hard time choosing what to do here, so if you want to cement your place as Dad’s favourite for eternity, we suggest you book him a Hot Lap. He can tear around the track as a passenger in a Ford Mustang, or a Formula Toyota (an actual open wheel race car).
Take Dad fishing in the Coorong – it’s on the epic scale for keen anglers. There’s a bunch of places to choose from, including the Murray River (carp don’t taste great, but Dad will catch a heap and get some practice in!), Lake Albert (Meningie jetty), or the most exciting, straight off the surf beach in the Coorong National Park. If Dad lands a Mulloway, bream, salmon or mullet, then you can cook it up right there on the beach with a campfire.
Get the family together and spoil Dad with a Coorong Tour. They’re a little bit different, because not only do you get to choose the best experiences for your group, you will get to see parts of the Coorong that just aren’t open to the general public. They’ll take you behind farm gates, reveal the tastes of the Coorong, and show you all the secret spots that only the locals know about. Our tip?
