After five years of owning his own restaurant, Sandeep Tati owner of the Meningie Cheese Factory Restaurant is moving on, leaving a strong Coorong property portfolio for his family’s future.

Leaving his job as a Console Attendant at Caltex Meningie, Sandeep backed himself, raiding his savings and borrowing heavily to invest in his first business venture.

We started on January 28, 2013, I’ll never forget that date,” Sandeep said. “I’d always wanted to be my own boss and run my own business, but for the life of me I never thought I would own a restaurant.”

“Thankfully, we inherited a talented cook and some wonderful staff – I’ve learnt so much, especially about business and we’ve made so many friends along the way.”

“The Meningie Cheese Factory Restaurant has been an extraordinary stepping stone into business and property investment.”

With more business plans on the horizon and his second child on the way, Sandeep has finally received his Australian Citizenship and is moving his wife Rajitha and dynamic four year old daughter Shloka to Melbourne for additional family support.

“We can’t wait to be closer to family and allowing our children to grow with a stronger understanding of our culture – we also want to give our children the best education we can afford,” Sandeep said.

With deep roots remaining in the Coorong, Sandeep will continue to run both his Wellington Service Station and the Karoonda Bakery under management – allowing his recently built Wellington East Marina ‘Holiday Rental’ to be managed by Coorong Realty.

“We really want to see our respected little restaurant go to a community minded family and I’ve learnt that it’s always important to leave some growth in a business for the next operator – so with the opening of The Bend Motorsport Park and the ever growing number of travellers visiting and stopping in Meningie, there’s much left for the next generation.”

Voted as Trip Advisor’s number one restaurant in the region for the last two years, Sandeep strongly believes in staying invested in the unique Coorong Region.
