Renowned market gardeners, Don and Kathy Ruggerio, of Swanport Harvest fame are selling their eclectic family home to prepare for their transition to retirement.
No stranger to work, Don and Kathy have spent many years building their vegetable growing business to supply a range of food chains nationally.
‘This has been our family home, our three girls have grown up here, but now it is just to large for Don and I’ explains Kathy.
The home has certainly been a labour of love for Don and Kathy with every part of the home renovated, transformed and updated over a twenty year period.
Kathy says ‘we have completely transformed it into our little slice of Italy’.
With privacy and entertaining very important to the Ruggerio’s, the home features a range of entertaining spaces from the very intimate to large group areas. ‘We have a formal lounge which is great cosy space in the winter and when the family is home we have a large entertaining area complete with an outdoor kitchen and bathroom’.
The home has been designed as an oasis for a busy family and now has the added bonus of private riverfront. Don clarifies ‘we own the property alongside the home and that has 1.1km of riverfront and we are making a small portion of that available to the new owners via an easement and right of way’.

So what is next for Don and Kathy? Well there are a range of options including the renovation of a small home nearby, with an Italian feel of course, or perhaps even a home in Italy for a year round holiday.
